August 1 ~ Respect For Parents Day ~ Make a list of the qualities of a good parent. Thank your parents.
August 2 ~ First Lincoln Penny Issued in 1909 ~ Count your money and talk about ways to save.
August 3 ~ Chocolate Chip Day ~ Make chocolate chip cookies for your neighbors. What is your favorite kind of chocolate chip?
August 4 ~ "Ant Bully" movie was released today a couple of years ago. Talk about what a bully is and what to do about it.
August 5 ~ Admit You're Happy Month ~ Make a list of at least 3 reasons you have to be happy.
August 6 ~ American Family Day ~ Do a fun activity with your family.
August 7 ~ Sisters Day ~ Do something fun with your sister or someone as special as a sister.

August 11 ~ Play in the Sand Day ~ Go to your local park or beach and make a sand castle.
August 12 ~ International Youth Day ~ Find out what other children around the world do to have fun.
August 13 ~ National Garage Sale Day ~ Go to a garage sale or have your own. This could be a fun way to talk about spending $ wisely.
August 14 ~ National Nagging Day ~ Find someone in the news who you would like to nag. Write a nagging letter.
August 15~ Best Friends Day ~ Spend the day with your best friend. Make cards for each other.
August 16 ~ Watermelon Day ~ Enjoy a slice of watermelon and organize a seed spitting contest.
August 17 ~ Relaxation Day ~ Take time today to relax and read. Read in bed, a hammock, or under a tree.
August 18 ~ Bad Poetry Day ~ Cut words that rhyme from the newspaper. Use them to write and awful poem.
August 19 ~ Aviation Day ~ Make paper airplanes and see how far they go. Have a contest. I could go on and on with this one. LOL

August 23 ~ First Photograph of the Earth from the moon taken today ~ Take your own pictures of life on this earth. Make a photo collage.
August 24 ~ National Save your Smile Week ~ Avoid sweets today; and give your teeth a good brushing and flossing.
August 25 ~ Kiss and Make up Day ~ Find a conflict in the news. Write a letter to the editor telling how you thing it could be solved. Make up with someone who have hurt you.
August 26 ~ Susan B. Anthony Day ~ Talk about why it's important to respect the rights of others.
August 27 ~ Mother Teresa's Birthday ~ Learn more about Mother Teresa's work and then find ways you can volunteer in your community.
August 28 ~ Dream Day ~ In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream Speech." Read or check out a video about it. What are your dreams?
August 29 ~ Inventors Month ~ Think about a problem. Can you invent something to help?
August 30 ~ Smores Day ~ Make Smores using a campfire or grill.
