Frozen Banana
I have been wondering what to do with all my frozen banana's and I came across a fruit smoothie that suggested to use a frozen banana! So I have been making a lot of them because I have a lot of frozen banana's! I use the frozen blueberries and strawberries from the cannery about a handful of each, a half or less of the banana, and about a cup of milk. I put sugar in mine but you don't have to. Blend it and walla. Yum, Yum in a cup!

Breakfast recipe
My friend sent me this recipe that uses whole wheat.
1 Cup of Whole Wheat Berries (kernals)
1 Cup of Rice
3 Cups of water
1 tsp cinnamon
3 cans of coconut milk
4 Tbsp honey
1/2 -1 cup fruit of choice (raisins, figs, apricots, apples, etc.)
Put everything but fruit in the crockpot and cook on low overnight and it will be ready for breakfast in the morning.
If you don't want to use coconut milk you could substitute apple juice and omit the honey or just use all water.

Black Bean Soup
This is a great Food Storage Recipe:
Black Bean Soup
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 large carrot, peeled and thinly sliced
1 tsp Garlic Powder
2 cans black beans
1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth
2 cups cubed cooked ham
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
black pepper to taste
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)
1 cup sour cream (optional)
Heat oil in saucepan. Stir in green pepper, carrot, and garlic powder for about 5 min. Mix in 1 can of black beans and chicken broth. Using a blender, blend second can of black beans and mix in. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat add in ham, cumin, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
You can add the cheese and sour cream to each bowl, but I think it is just as good without. Canned ham is a great alternative on this recipe!
I found the recipe (I altered it slightly) at allrecipes.com which is a great site (it is a lot like the Kraft site).

Kmart Double Coupons
Mandy made a comment about Kmart's double coupons up to $2. Last time I went to this everything that I wanted was sold out but if you can find something and use your coupons, make sure it is a good deal because sometimes the regular price of things at Kmart are more expensive than Walmart. You can get some pretty good deals this way so it may be worth a look.

Stretching your food budget recipes
Made with whole chickens
-I either bake the chicken in the oven at 250 degrees for 2-3 hours, cook in the crockpot for 4-6 hours, or boil in water until done. Then I pull all of the chicken off of the bones and I am able to use it for 2 to 3 of these recipes.
-when I freeze meals I line the casserole dish with non-stick aluminum foil with enough extending to fold back over the casserole. After the casserole is assembled I fold the foil over the top and freeze in the dish. When the casserole is frozen I take it out of the dish and put it in a labeled and dated freezer ziploc. The only casserole I cook before freezing is the chicken pot pie.
I also make sure to use all fresh ingredients so that all ingredients are only frozen once.
